Using an old Joomla site
I’m using a stand-alone webhosting service with PHP and MySQL. I would like to create a Joomla site for a client, and there are not many resources for me to get going. I’m a long-time PHP developer, not a Joomla developer. I’ve been told I can save a lot of time by using a Joomla site to create and manage the site for them, but I don’t want to have to lose any of my original design and content to make it work.
I’m going to set up a staging site with Joomla. Can I migrate my data and make that site a “sister” of the client’s site? When I set up the staging site, can I just copy over the files I want to keep, and replace the other stuff with what I have in my local files?
